A floating<\/a> plaza designed by Italian studio\u00a0Carlo Ratti Associati<\/a>\u00a0and US firm\u00a0H\u00f6weler + Yoon Architecture<\/a> has anchored in Bel\u00e9m, Brazil<\/a>, following its residency at the Venice Architecture Biennale<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Named AquaPra\u00e7a, the 400-square-metre\u00a0plaza<\/a> was transported to Bel\u00e9m at the mouth of the Amazon River, where it formed part of the Italian Pavilion at the COP30 climate conference from 10 to 21 November.<\/p>\n

AquaPra\u00e7a will now remain a permanent installation on the Guajar\u00e1 Bay, having been donated by Italy to the Brazilian government to provide public space for climate discussion.<\/p>\n

“The project was always conceived as a journey \u2013 a structure with many lives,” said Carlo Ratti Associati<\/a> founder Carlo Ratti<\/a>, who curated this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“From Venice to Bel\u00e9m as Italy’s pavilion for COP30, it will ultimately remain in the Amazon as permanent cultural infrastructure,” Ratti continued.<\/p>\n

“This is the essence of circularity \u2013 the continual reuse and reinvention over time.”<\/p>\n
