Dezeen Showroom: Finnish bathroom brand Woodio has refined the shapes of the basins in its Soft collection, which are made from the brand’s waterproof wood composite material.

The Soft collection is part of Woodio‘s bathroom furniture offering, which uses wood composite as a low-carbon alternative to traditional ceramics that need to be fired at high temperature.

Woodio’s Soft collection now features lighter, more refined shapes

Woodio calculates that the carbon footprint of its products, which are made from a combination of woodchips and binders, is 80 per cent smaller than that of the equivalent ceramic products.

The new additions to the Soft range include tabletop, recessed and wall-hung basin models, all with more slender rounded rims than their predecessors, giving them a more contemporary and sophisticated appearance.

The sinks are made with Woodio’s new semi-matt finish, which highlights the grainy natural texture of the wood composite, a result of the woodchips within.

The Soft collection basins are available in 15 different colours, including striking shades such as rich Berry purple and the bright pink Blossom. They are suitable for both residential and contract spaces.
